General FAQ

The OvulaRing has an outer diameter of just over 5 cm and a cross-sectional diameter of 4 mm. Here You can order an OvulaRing test kit.

OvulaRing is a completely new, patented method for tracking your cycle—developed by gynecologists and rigorously medically tested. Using a vaginal biosensor, OvulaRing automatically records your core body temperature 288 times a day, around the clock. No more tedious morning temperature checks. Instead of a single measurement, OvulaRing records 288 data points per day, allowing it to track your cycle much more accurately, regardless of cycle length or external factors like stress, sleep, exercise, or diet. Medical algorithms analyze the data to identify your individual cycle and fertility patterns. With OvulaRing, you can find out if you’re ovulating or if there are signs of a hormonal cycle disorder. In addition, you can view your daily probability of conception and a forecast for ovulation in the next cycle. Thanks to continuous measurement, OvulaRing is suitable for all cycles and has been tested and validated in three medical studies for a wide variety of cycle types outside the standard cycle.

Body temperature reflects the hormonal changes in the female cycle. At the time of ovulation, the simultaneous release of progesterone causes your core body temperature to rise by 0.25 to 0.5°C. By measuring your basal body temperature, you can determine when ovulation has occurred. However, to get pregnant, you need to track the period leading up to ovulation. Here, too, the temperature changes only slightly. OvulaRing helps you recognize this change and shows you when the likelihood of getting pregnant is highest.

OvulaRing was developed by a gynecologist and reproductive specialist to continuously track every woman’s unique cycle. That’s why OvulaRing is also suitable for women with irregular cycles or PCOS. OvulaRing continuously measures your core body temperature, allowing it to determine whether you are ovulating and when ovulation occurs. OvulaRing has been validated in several medical studies against ovulation detection via ultrasound and blood hormones. Ovulation is detected with over 99% accuracy. We have many customers with PCOS or irregular cycles for whom OvulaRing provides an overview of their cycle activity and, as a result, helps build confidence in their own bodies.

Even during your first cycle, you can upload and view your temperature data in the software at any time. By looking at your temperature chart during the cycle, you can see whether ovulation has already occurred or not. If you have any questions, our customer service team will be happy to assist you. As soon as the first cycle is complete, the day of ovulation and the fertile window will be marked on your temperature chart, and you’ll receive a retrospective analysis.

The time at which the temperature readings were taken is always recorded along with the data. Therefore, you do not need to read the OvulaRing at a specific time or immediately after removing it.

Your subscription period begins when you upload data for the first time, or no later than one month after you send your package.

On the main page at myOvulaRing.com, you’ll see the date until which your subscription is active—and your account is therefore accessible—right above the main menu. You can also view your subscription end date under “Account.” Starting two weeks before your subscription expires, you’ll receive an automatic reminder after logging in so you don’t miss the deadline for placing a renewal order.

To pause your subscription, you can submit a request to our customer service team via the Account page in the app or at myovularing.com. You can also email us at info@ovularing.com or contact our Contact Form We would appreciate it if you could let us know why you are taking a break from using the service. You can take a break at the end of any full month of service. Taking a break may result in additional costs for a new temperature sensor.

You can always start a break in your treatment at the beginning of a full month, and this option is only available if you have signed up for a treatment plan lasting more than 3 months. If you wish to resume your treatment after the break, additional costs may apply, as you may need another sensor. Please let us know in advance if you plan to resume your treatment so that we can send you a replacement sensor if necessary.

OvulaRing is a personalized medical device and must therefore not be shared with anyone else.

Once you’ve inserted the ring, its flexible material will cause it to fit snugly around the cervix. If it’s inserted deeply enough, you won’t feel it anymore. If you can still feel the ring, gently push it in a little further. There’s no risk of the ring being inserted too deeply into the vagina or getting lost. Here You can order your OvulaRing test kit and give it a try.

OvulaRing can remain in the vagina during intercourse. Tests have shown that the ring is very rarely felt by the woman or the man during intercourse. If you find it uncomfortable to wear OvulaRing during intercourse, you can remove the ring before intercourse. Please don’t forget to reinsert it immediately afterward to keep any gaps in your tracking as short as possible. To take advantage of the daily updated probability of conception, gaps in your tracking must not exceed one hour per day. Here You can order your OvulaRing test kit and give it a try.

You don’t need a doctor’s help to insert or remove the ring. It’s as easy to use as a tampon.

You can use OvulaRing to track your temperature while breastfeeding. This will help you see how your cycle is returning to normal. OvulaRing cannot yet tell you when your first ovulation will occur or when you are in your fertile window.

The OvulaRing app is available for iOS and Android. You can also use the browser app at myovularing.com.

When you ovulate, your entire temperature curve shifts upward by about 0.25 to 0.5 °C and then remains at that level until your period begins. Sometimes it can be helpful to view the average values to detect the rise in temperature. Fluctuations that occur on just one day can be completely normal and are usually due to your activity patterns.

OvulaRing can be worn without any problems in the bathtub, swimming pool, or sauna.

FAQ on Application

After logging in with your personal credentials, you’ll see your current probability of conception. At the bottom of this page, you’ll find the “Enter Cycle Start” button. Click on it to select the appropriate date. You can correct the start of your cycle at any time under the “Analysis” menu item. If you have forgotten your password, you can request a new one under “Forgot your password?”

The start of your period serves as the reference point for dividing the cycle into cycle days and also marks the beginning of the cycle. To view and correctly interpret your temperature chart on myovularing.com, you must therefore enter the start of your cycle.

You can delete the start date of a cycle or enter a new one at any time by selecting the “Analysis” menu item.

Once you’ve ovulated, the current conception probability feature can detect this and let you know that conception is unlikely.

OvulaRing is just as easy to use as a tampon. Since the ring is made of flexible plastic, you can easily squeeze it and then insert it deep into the vagina. You don’t need any medical assistance to do this. If you can still feel the ring, gently push it in a little deeper. There is no risk of the ring being inserted too deeply into the vagina or getting lost.

OvulaRing should be inserted no later than the 6th day of your cycle and will then continuously track your temperature. You can read the sensor as often as you like during this time. The temperature-measuring ring should be removed no later than the start of your next period and reinserted vaginally as usual once your period has ended.

In general, we recommend inserting the OvulaRing no later than the 6th day of your cycle so that the entire cycle, including all its phases, can be fully tracked. For cycles of at least 28 days, the OvulaRing can also be inserted as late as the 9th day of the first cycle. Starting with the second cycle, however, you should make sure to insert OvulaRing no later than the 6th day of your cycle. If you insert OvulaRing later, you will not be able to use the daily updated conception probability feature.

If your cycles are very long or if you’re not sure exactly when your next cycle will start, please feel free to contact our customer service team. We’ll provide personalized advice on the best time for you to start using the product.

You can remove the OvulaRing during your period. However, be sure to reinsert it by the 6th day of your cycle at the latest. If you are still experiencing light bleeding at that time, you can still reinsert the OvulaRing.

A comprehensive record of the cycle is essential for a meaningful analysis. Short-term temperature fluctuations are quite normal. Therefore, examining only a portion of the cycle cannot yield reliable results.

You can check your OvulaRing as often as you like. It doesn’t matter what time of day you do it. We recommend checking it once at the start of use so you can get familiar with the process. Starting with your second cycle, we recommend checking it daily a few days before the fertile phase was detected in your first cycle. Each time you read the data, the current daily probability of conception will be displayed. If the software indicates that the fertile phase for the current cycle is over, daily readings are no longer necessary, and OvulaRing can remain in the body until the end of the cycle. The data should be transferred after 3 months at the latest.

For hygiene reasons, the plastic ring should be replaced after 30 days of use at the latest. To do this, remove the sensor from the old ring and insert it into the new, disinfected plastic ring. This allows you to continue wearing OvulaRing for the remainder of your cycle. OvulaRing should be removed during menstruation. You can store the plastic ring and the sensor in the included container during your period. After your period, clean the plastic ring and sensor and reinsert both so you can continue using the same plastic ring for the remainder of the 30 days.

The scanning process usually takes only a few seconds. Most women have quickly incorporated the data update into their daily routine and it takes them only a moment to do so.

By continuously measuring your temperature, OvulaRing tracks your temperature throughout the day. Daily temperature fluctuations are due to your activity patterns. When you sleep, your temperature drops, and when you’re active and moving around, it rises.

Only continuous temperature measurement allows for accurate and scientifically reliable conclusions. If there are gaps in measurement of more than 1 hour per day, fertility patterns cannot be identified based on the current probability of conception. This does not affect the detection of ovulation at the end of the cycle.

OvulaRing can tell you exactly whether you’re ovulating despite irregular cycles and when ovulation occurs. This can help you identify patterns within what you might think is irregularity and thus gain a better understanding of your body.

OvulaRing detects ovulation with over 99% accuracy. If no ovulation was detected, the cycle was most likely monophasic. This means that ovulation did not occur. Occasional monophasic cycles are not a cause for concern and can occur quite normally. If monophasic cycles recur, you should consult your doctor.

FAQ on Security

Since we have decided not to emit any radiation from the body near the uterus and ovaries, the sensor can only be read externally. As long as the sensor is inside the body, it does not emit any radiation.

OvulaRing is worn vaginally inside the body, placing it in close proximity to the uterus and ovaries. By our standards, there is currently no safer method of emitting radiation from the body without potentially affecting these vital organs or genetic material.

Both the plastic ring and the ceramic sensor are manufactured in Germany. In line with our company philosophy, we make a point of working with local businesses.

Under the Medical Devices Act, we are required to ensure the safety and health of users. The development of OvulaRing was designed to meet the highest hygiene standards. For example, all components are packaged in a low-germ environment. Our high quality standards are regularly verified by external laboratories.

A foreign object always carries a certain risk of introducing bacteria into the vagina. We therefore recommend that you practice good hand hygiene and thoroughly clean the ring with water and pH-neutral soap, or with a disinfectant before using it for the very first time.

The plastic is made from a material that has been used for many years in medical devices, including implants. It contains no plasticizers. Under the Medical Devices Act, we are required to ensure the safety and health of users. Our high quality standards are regularly verified by external laboratories.

The sensor technology—including the battery—is housed in an airtight ceramic casing, making it safe for human health. Our high quality standards are regularly verified by external laboratories.

The temperature charts on myOvulaRing are personal data protected by our privacy policy. You can find all relevant information on this topic, as well as the contact information for our external data protection officer, on our website under the “Privacy” section.

Your data and recorded cycle information will be stored for 24 months after you stop using the app. After this period, the data will be automatically deleted from our database. You can export your data before the deadline by clicking the “Create PDF” button. You’ll find this feature next to the cycle selection under “Cycle Chart.”

The stored data is used solely for statistical purposes and to continuously improve our services. We do not analyze the data in a way that identifies individuals, nor do we share it with third parties.

The temperature sensor’s casing is made of dental ceramic, a material widely used in the medical field. This material is chemically inert and poses no risk to the body.

We recommend that you do not wear the OvulaRing during airport security screening. The security screening equipment may react to the metal in the sensor and set off an alarm.

OvulaRing’s ovulation detection has been validated against ovulation detection methods that rely on blood hormone testing and ultrasound. OvulaRing detects ovulation with over 99% accuracy.

OvulaRing continuously measures your core body temperature 288 times a day, around the clock. This allows it to identify your individual fertility patterns and determine your ovulation much more accurately than a single basal body temperature reading.

In general, you can use vaginal suppositories or creams while wearing the OvulaRing. The active ingredients in vaginal suppositories or creams can damage the plastic ring and, in rare cases, cause it to break. Therefore, check the ring regularly and replace it immediately if it is damaged or broken.

FAQ on Trying to Conceive

There are about 6 days per cycle when you can get pregnant. This fertile window includes the 4 days before ovulation, the day of ovulation itself, and the day after. The chances of getting pregnant are highest 2 days before ovulation. So, the right timing is crucial for your dream of having a baby to come true quickly. 81% of women trying to conceive who closely track their cycle get pregnant within 6 months. OvulaRing continuously records your basal body temperature 288 times a day. This high-resolution measurement allows your fertile window to be identified and your individual cycle patterns to be tracked. Medical algorithms analyze this data and display your daily probability of conception reliably and up-to-date in the software. Additionally, with OvulaRing, you can determine whether your cycle is healthy or if there are signs of a hormonal cycle disorder. On average, OvulaRing users take only 3.8 months to achieve their desired pregnancy. Our cycle experts are happy to answer your questions and support you on your journey to having the child you desire.

The current conception probability compares your cycle patterns from past cycles with your current temperature data. As soon as it recognizes a pattern, it will show it to you. It does not distinguish which day of your fertile window you are on.

We recommend that you log your sexual intercourse in the app so that both you and your doctor have a clear overview of when and how often intercourse took place. If no intercourse occurred during your fertile window, you could not have become pregnant during that cycle. By logging your sexual intercourse in the app, you can keep track of it. For your gynecologist, the recorded cycle can only be properly evaluated for fertility purposes once it is clear whether or not you had sex on your fertile days.

If you became pregnant while using OvulaRing and still have more than a month left in your cycle, you can pause your use. You may want to use OvulaRing later to support natural birth control or to plan for another baby. For more details, see: “How can I pause my use?” and “What should I keep in mind when pausing my use?”

OvulaRing automatically fits over the cervix. Because of its circular shape, it does not block the cervix, and sperm can still enter the uterus without any problems. It does not need to be removed.

“For healthy couples, timing intercourse correctly is crucial. It is generally assumed that a woman is fertile for about 3–5 days before ovulation. Once ovulation occurs, the egg is only capable of being fertilized for 6–12 hours. This window of opportunity should be taken advantage of. However, many women do not know exactly when they ovulate. In gynecological practice, measuring basal body temperature is therefore recommended, as it provides insights into the menstrual cycle and thus identifies fertile days. Regular sexual intercourse (2–3 times a week) is the best foundation for getting pregnant. If these points have been followed and pregnancy has not occurred after about six months to a year, you should consult a doctor to rule out any potential physical issues.
Try to approach your journey to parenthood with a relaxed and joyful mindset, without putting pressure on yourself.”

Yes, that is possible. After ovulation, the egg remains viable for about 6–12 hours. If the egg is still viable at the time of intercourse, fertilization is still possible even after ovulation.

The likelihood of conception begins as early as five days before ovulation, since sperm can survive in the vaginal environment for up to five days and can “wait” for the released egg. After ovulation, the egg can survive and be fertilized for only about 6 to 12 hours. Statistically speaking, the likelihood of becoming pregnant is highest one to two days before ovulation.

FAQ on Contraception

Please note that OvulaRing is not a contraceptive, and each woman is responsible for her own contraception. During your fertile window, you should therefore either abstain from sex or use a contraceptive method of your choice. The analysis is performed exclusively by the myovularing software; the biosensor and the OvulaRing app do not provide results on their own.

There are about 6 days per cycle during which a woman is fertile. This fertile window includes the 4 days before ovulation, the day of ovulation itself, and the day after. The OvulaRing biosensor continuously records your basal body temperature 288 times a day. Thanks to this high-resolution measurement, the myovularing software can identify your fertile phase and track your individual cycle patterns. You can use this information to support natural contraception as part of natural family planning. We recommend using the symptothermal method for this purpose.

OvulaRing is not a contraceptive, and using the myovularing software does not constitute contraception, as it does not interfere with bodily functions in a way that regulates them, nor can it prevent the transmission of sperm or the fertilization of eggs.

The OvulaRing biosensor measures your core body temperature 288 times a day. Thanks to this high-resolution measurement, the myovularing software can identify your fertile window and track your individual cycle patterns. You can use this information to support natural family planning.

The accuracy of the ovulation prediction depends on how regular a woman’s cycles are. If ovulation varies by more than 8 days, no prediction can be made. Please note that lifestyle changes such as exercise, diet, or medical conditions can affect the timing of ovulation, so the prediction may not always be accurate. We recommend always comparing the prediction with your current probability of conception and, as part of natural family planning, observing other physical symptoms such as cervical mucus.

OvulaRing automatically measures your core body temperature 288 times a day. This makes the measurement much more accurate than the single-point basal body temperature method. Factors such as illness, alcohol consumption, or poor sleep do not affect the analysis. Since OvulaRing measures automatically, you don’t have to worry about always measuring at the same spot and at a similar time. OvulaRing handles the measurement and analysis for you, so you don’t have to remember to do it yourself.

Ovulation may occur during breastfeeding before menstrual bleeding resumes. OvulaRing requires at least one completed learning cycle that includes ovulation to provide the daily probability of conception. The ovulation forecast can only be provided after 3 cycles that include ovulation. OvulaRing is therefore not yet a reliable method of natural contraception during breastfeeding.

OvulaRing is not a contraceptive, but it can help women practice natural family planning. Our customer service team would be happy to advise you on how OvulaRing can support you in managing your unique menstrual cycles.

OvulaRing is not a contraceptive. If the results from the myovularing software are used to support natural family planning, this requires a significant degree of personal responsibility on the part of the woman or girl. OvulaRing can help users better understand their cycle and, above all, help young girls become more attuned to the changes in their bodies. However, the topic of contraception and the choice of a contraceptive method should be discussed with a gynecologist, especially for young girls.
