The Fertility treatment with OvulaRing has been covered by public health insurance plans nationwide since January 1, 2021, when you visit your gynecologist BIG Direct Health, HEK – Hanseatic Health Insurance, IKK Southwest and mhplus Health Insurance covered for up to 12 months. The four health insurance companies reimburse the cost of medical services and cover a large portion of the costs for insured women.
OvulaRing is thus the first in the world Digital cycle tracking app, on the basis of which a medical Treatment regimen was developed for women who are unable to conceive, and its costs are covered by public health insurance.
Background
With OvulaRing, gynecologists and reproductive medicine specialists Prof. Henry Alexander and the VivoSensMedical, your OvulaRing team, has launched a system for personalized cycle tracking. Based on this, a innovative treatment regimen at unfulfilled desire to have children developed to enable personalized—and therefore more effective—treatments.
In this way, OvulaRing can help many couples struggling to conceive to get pregnant naturally. This helps avoid premature referrals to fertility clinics and the often very stressful fertility treatments that come with them.
Together with the four health insurance companies mentioned above, this treatment protocol is now being introduced into the primary healthcare market. This is the result of our successful participation in Healthy Hub 2019, from which we, the OvulaRing team, emerged as winners alongside four other startups. Healthy Hub is a competition sponsored by five statutory health insurance companies to test innovative digital health solutions in medical practice.
Copayment and duration of treatment
Since January 2021, the four health insurance providers listed have been covering treatment with OvulaRing for up to twelve months. Instead of 480 euros, you only have to pay a copayment of 99 euros. All other costs are covered by the health insurance providers. You, too, can benefit from this new, personalized treatment option for infertility at your gynecologist’s office!

How can I participate?
Please start by scheduling an initial consultation at a participating practice. You’ll be able to find the participating practices on our website shortly. Until then, please contact us at info@ovularing.com or through our Contact Formto find a participating practice near you.
Afterward, as the insured person, you will sign a participation form, which you can obtain directly from your gynecologist. After the informational consultation, your doctor will send your signed participation form directly to your OvulaRing team. We will then send you a link to the discounted OvulaRing package. You will receive an OvulaRing package for the first 6 months, delivered directly to your home for a one-time fee of 99 euros, and can begin tracking your cycle charts.
The newly developed treatment plan calls for regular visits (once every three months) to your doctor so that, based on personalized cycle monitoring, we can provide the best possible support for your desire to have a child. These visits can also be conveniently conducted via telemedicine. After 6 months, your gynecologist will decide whether you will receive OvulaRing from your health insurance for another 6 months. You will not be required to pay any additional copayment for this. If you become pregnant or after the twelve-month usage period has expired, an individual follow-up consultation will take place, and the special provision of OvulaRing will end. If pregnancy has not occurred by the end of the usage period, a referral to a fertility clinic may be made based on the fertility diagnostics conducted with OvulaRing.
Here you’ll find more information about Participation and Coverage of Costs.
How can my gynecologist participate?
Your doctor can sign up for a selective contract with the health insurance provider. To do so, they can contact us by phone, email, or through a contact form, and we will send all the necessary documents for the selective contract directly to the practice. Throughout the treatment period and for any questions that may arise, the practice will receive comprehensive support from the OvulaRing team.
My health insurance plan isn’t listed here—will it still cover the cost of the OvulaRing?
Unfortunately, we cannot say whether your health insurance provider would cover the cost of the OvulaRing. Please contact your health insurance provider’s customer support directly. Some health insurance providers also require a doctor’s recommendation. However, we would be happy to provide you with a cost estimate for your insurance claim. Please contact info@ovularing.com.
How can I switch health insurance providers?
Starting this year, switching health insurance providers is even faster and easier. Simply fill out and submit the online application for new members on your new health insurance provider’s website. You can switch with two months’ notice, effective at the end of the month. Your new health insurance provider will then take care of the rest, such as canceling your previous policy. Please check with your new health insurance provider for more information and get detailed advice on any questions you may have.
Accompanying study on cycle diagnostics
Our partnership with public health insurance providers BIG direkt gesund, HEK – Hanseatische Krankenkasse, IKK Southwest and mhplus Health Insurance is accompanied by a study on cycle diagnosis for women struggling to conceive. It is the largest study of its kind in the world to date. In the study, the effectiveness of the OvulaRing method is being scientifically evaluated by InGef—the Institute for Applied Health Research Berlin GmbH, an independent institute. Your data will, of course, only be analyzed in an anonymized form. We would be delighted if you would participate in the study and thus support our research in the field of women’s health.
